Surveillance, the largest branch of ISB, is commonly a department of operatives employed to search for potentially rebellious activity. What they find, if substantial enough, is turned over to Investigations.

Often functioning secretly, Surveillance agents make constant records of the people they come in contact with. These records are cataloged at a constantly updated databank located at the ISB’s Central Office in Imperial city. Surveillance agents may be placed anywhere within the Imperial Civilian populous, the Imperial Military, or the Imperial Bureaucracy. Agents may be assigned to specific areas or posts because of suspicion or rumors, or, may they be randomly placed in order to gain an accurate sample of galactic opinion. This branch is tasked with constantly monitoring the attitude towards the Emperor and his Empire, and, dictating to more the more activist ISB branches when intervention is needed.

As well, Surveillance submits regular reports through ISB’s office to the Office of the Prime Adjudicator. These reports reflect Surveillance’s observations on the general effectiveness and contingencies of Imperial Law.
