- Coruscant, Imperial Center - Early this morning, in a press conference hosted by Ubiqtorate officials, Imperial Intelligence Director, Revan Centurion, revealed the most recent string of updates on the Galactic Senate Review. The investigation into the Galactic Senate was initiated by Chief of Staff, Matrel Byden, almost one year ago when it was discovered that Senator Udon Bandar was conducting treasonous affairs to harm the New Order. The investigation which started out as a simple verification of the senate's ability to function has grown over the years to include the closings of numerous councils. The following is an excerpt from Director Revan Centurion's comments at today's press conference:
"Imperials,
I stand before you today as a man that carries a large burden on his shoulders. I ask for your support as family and defenders of the New Order during these treacherous times. We are all aware of the increasing threat of our enemies. While our military maintains vast superiority in the galaxy, we find ourselves fighting battles at home. There are those that would say the government is simply making up these threats. I challenge any person to convey that thought to the friends and families of those deployed in support of Operation Tides of Darkness. Make no mistake, we are fighting a war. It is not a war that can be won by military might, but it requires the support of the citizens of the New Order.
Terrorists that call themselves freedom fighters destroy government buildings, wasting thousands of innocent Imperial lives. They pollute the alien population of our more productive worlds, hoping to gain allies. Then there are those that would dare to threaten loyal Imperial citizens right here on Coruscant. Yet, there are still those of you that do not believe. When but a few months ago, a team of soldiers from the 1st Corps' fast response unit gunned down a well-known member terrorist in the middle of the Grand Concourse. An ISB extraction team entered the Glittanai Esplanade, at the same time, to ensure the protection of former Director Thomas Cherokee. What does this have to do with the Galactic Senate? I hold in my hands, the most recent situational report on the investigation into the Galactic Senate. My fellow Imperials, the corruption we sought to stamp out a year ago has only thrived and grown in the dark corners of power within the Empire. The men and women that you elected to represent you have taken your trust and sold it to the highest bidder simply to turn a profit.
Unfortunately I cannot go into explicit detail, but I assure you that change is in the wind. As a result of these recent findings, I am authorizing the full censoring of all Galactic Senate materials and files by members of Imperial Intelligence and the Imperial Security Bureau. All subcommittees of the Galactic Senate are hereby suspended, and their duties will be split between elements of Imperial Intelligence, COMPNOR, and the Imperial Military. Any authority previously inherited by the Galactic Senate are also hereby subject to review and interpretation of Imperial Intelligence and the Imperial Security Bureau. We are moving forward in our efforts to safeguard the New Order and its citizenry. Contact your local COMPNOR officials to find out what you can do to help fight the war against insurgency and treason. Long Live The Empire and His Majesty Emperor Charon!"
The powerful speech has already begun receiving unimaginable support. Citizens of the Empire have begun calling for the complete disbandment of the Galactic Senate. When questioned about the feasibility of such an action, Director Revan Centurion declined to comment other than mentioning such a decision rests with the Imperial Throne. The select citizens privileged enough to attend the press conference or catch it on the holonetwork have already begun proclaiming the glory of the New Order.
