By the Order of the Emperor, all Commanding Officers and Branches should now be using this system. The merit system determines when you get awards, and sometimes when you get promoted. You can get merits for good services to your branch, dept, etc., or to the Empire. Also for bravery, following the rules, and always reporting in on time. Your CO can give several at his/her own discretion. However, if you are not good, this system can backfire on you. This is when demerits will be given. You can recieve demerits by not reporting in on time, hinting for promotion, breaking the chain of command, disrespect to superior officers and/or subordinates, neglection of duties, and at your CO's discretion. It takes 2 merits to remove a demerit. Too many demerits can result in demotion, or worse. All of the results are recorded in the ISB Database in a soldier's permanent record. These records are used when determining promotions, equipment allocation, assignments including those of command, and awards. If you have any specific questions about it, contact your CO to find out how he/she uses the Merit System. However, you won't find out how many merits you have, since they like to surprise you. Usually they tell you when you recieve a demerit though.
